Your Social Security Direct password can be recovered online using your NISS and a verification code, or changed after logging into your profile.

Updated this week

To recover your Social Security Direct profile password, you should:

  1. Select the Account type (Citizen option – if you are a citizen or resident in Portugal), enter your NISS, date of birth, check the "I'm not a robot" box, and click the Next: Verification channel button.

  2. Choose the channel to receive the verification code (by email or mobile phone) and click the Request verification code button.

  3. After receiving the verification code, enter it in the Verification code field and confirm it by clicking the Confirm activation code button.

If you need to change your password: log in to Social Security Direct, then go to Profile > Personal data > Change password.
